Hello. My name is Bruce Folck. Thank you for visiting my site.
I’ve been involved in photography since 1988. In anticipation of a trip to Kenya, I took to heart the advice: “Know your camera equipment before you go.” For the 6 months prior to departure, I scoured the newspaper ‘calendar’ listings for anything that might present an interesting photographic opportunity. I attended horse shows, concerts and sporting events, and went on hikes and day trips to various scenic and tourist locations. I had a blast.
Kenya came and went, and I took lots of pictures. Upon my return, I enrolled in a B&W class at Chabot College and frequented the PhotoCentral lab at the Hayward Area Recreation District headquarters, where I gained valuable information and guidance from many talented individuals, including world-renowned photographers Geir and Kate Jordahl and Jim Mitchell. I have also studied under Steve Lomba and Dean Freeman at Laney College.
Over the years, I pursued a number of photographic interests:
I was the official photographer for the S.F. radio station KRQR from 1990-1995, which allowed me backstage at the “BAMmies,” on the track for Winston Cup races at Sears Point Raceway, and behind the scenes at many musical, social and theatrical events around the Bay Area.
I have provided photographs for album covers, inserts and promotional materials for many Celtic musicians and music groups, including “Tempest,” “Golden Bough,” “Phoenyx,” “Heather Alexander,” “Amazon Queen,” and “Coyote Pudding.”
I have photographed paintings and ceramics for the artists who have created them.
I have photographed the fashion creations for the costumers who have designed them.
I have photographed orchid flowers for those who have cultivated them.
I have contributed work to hair-fashion websites.
My work has been published in “Shutterbug Magazine” (December 2001) and displayed at the William High Memorial Gallery.
My current endeavors are focused primarily on portraiture – headshots, tattoos and piercings, form and figure work, hairstyle modeling, and fine art portraits.
